Welcome to the Calyx Services Website!
Calyx Services is wholly owned by Calyx Consulting Co. Ltd., a company registered in 2006 in Jamaica. At the outset, we were primarily engaged in agricultural consulting for medium and large-sized enterprises. More recently, given the threats posed by climate change and the consequential challenges to food and energy security, we are now focused on areas closer to end-users and offer the following services:

Calyx Agriculture
- production and delivery of resources that support the training needs of vocational agriculture students, gardeners, and small farmers. Calyx has brought to market a comprehensive series of texts and workbooks in tropical agriculture that are aligned to globally recognized vocational standards. In addition, we operate an educational channel on YouTube called ‘Gardening with Calyx’ which provides hands-on demonstrations and training for gardeners and small farmers.

Calyx Engineering
design and installation of solar energy systems for domestic and commercial applications; electrical and mechanical maintenance services for industrial and commercial facilities; and design and installation of automatic control systems.

The Calyx Team
Our in-house team of professionals has post-graduate training in Agriculture, Engineering and Data Management Systems. This enables us to seamlessly integrate technical, business, and practical concepts in all our activities.
Donovan Cover
Donovan Cover holds the position of Managing Director of the Company. He has a Bachelor’s degree in general engineering (Electrical and mechanical) and a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the Imperial College of Science and Technology, London, England. He has held senior management positions in organizations involved in manufacturing and contracting. In addition, Mr. Cover also co-owned and operated an engineering and contracting company that did work in heavy industry throughout Jamaica and which, at times, employed up to 150 persons.
Thelma McCatty-Cover
Thelma McCatty-Cover manages the agriculture and training portfolios. She has expertise in Agronomy (BSc. McGill University), Plant Physiology (MPhil. University of the West Indies), and Natural Resources Management (Fulbright Scholar, Massachusetts Institute of Technology). Mrs. McCatty-Cover has extensive experience in agricultural, agri-business and environmental consulting. In addition, she owned and operated several agricultural ventures, and managed the agricultural and technical operations of major agri-business entities in Jamaica and Barbados.
Machel McCatty
Machel McCatty provides guidance in ICT and Data Management Systems. He has a Master of Arts degree in Economics from Carleton University in Canada and over twenty years’ experience in research, data management systems, and ICT development.
