AMARYLLIS SHOP

Calyx Hippeastrum (amaryllis) plants are grown to high technical standards under tightly managed production systems. While we produce mature bulbs in pots, we also sell seedlings and offsets so more persons can enjoy these wonderful plants.

Beginning in December 2023, we will commence selling the items listed in our catalogue to persons on the island of Jamaica only. We anticipate having sufficient seeds to export, starting mid 2024.

How to Care for Forced/Blooming Amaryllis Bulbs in Pots

1. Place in bright, indirect light indoors, or dappled light outdoor.

2. Water sparingly, once/week.

3. Once the flower scapes emerge turn pot every 3 – 4 days to prevent flower stalk
bending toward light. If necessary, use a stake to keep the stalk upright.

4. Remove individual blooms as they fade.

5. Expect two or more flower stalks/bulb.

Once flowering has ceased, you can encourage the bulb to resume vegetative growth by
transplanting it into a larger pot filled with well-drained potting mix. Or you may wish to
plant it in an outdoor bed that gets partial protection from harsh sunlight. Make sure to
leave the neck and shoulder of the bulb above soil level.
Water only when the soil 3 inches of the media feels dry to the touch.

Caring for Seedlings and Young Plants

Plant seedlings/young plants as soon as possible after purchase.
Use a plant media that has approximately equal amounts of light soil + sand + organic
matter.

Space young plants 2 ft apart in beds. If planting in pots, place one plant/8-inch pot; 2
plants/10-inch pot; or 3 plants/12-inch pot. Do not bury young plants too deeply. Try to
leave the neck of the bulb above the soil level.
Water only when the soil 3 inches of the media feels dry to the touch.
